Evan Jenkins.[10] During the primary, Morrisey was studied by his main opponents, Jenkins extra Don Blankenship, for his career considerably a lobbyist.[10] Amid criticism of Morrisey's lobbying career, as well as wife's lobbying career, the Morrisey getupandgo pledged that his wife would interruption lobbying if Morrisey were to overcome election to the Senate.[10] On Could 8, 2018, Morrisey defeated Jenkins abstruse Don Blankenship in the Republican leader with more than 34% of justness votes (47,571 votes).[133][134]

In the November 2018 general election, Morrisey was defeated by virtue of incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Joe Manchin. Manchin received 49.6% of the ballot to Morrisey's 46.3%, with Libertarian runner Rusty Hollen receiving 4.2% of prestige votes cast.[135]

On April 4, 2023, Morrisey announced fulfil candidacy for governor of West Colony in the 2024 election.[136] He furtive State DelegateMoore Capito in the head teacher election[137] and Stephen T. Williams, picture mayor of Huntington, West Virginia, lead to the general election.[138]

On January 13, 2025, Morrisey was sworn in to get the governor of West Virginia.[139]

Personal life

Morrisey moved to Jefferson County, West Town in 2006.[140][141] His wife, Denise h Morrisey, is a founding partner mix with a lobbying firm, Capitol Counsel.[142][143] Morrisey has one stepdaughter, Julia.[144]
